Hyundai Glovis Surpasses 2 Million Used Cars Listed in Auctions

First in the Domestic Used Car Auction Industry

A New Milestone in the 25th Year Since Launching in 2001

Hyundai Glovis announced on the 20th that it has become the first domestic used car auction company to surpass a cumulative total of 2 million vehicles listed.

This milestone, achieved 25 years after starting the business in 2001, is the result of the company’s competitiveness in used car distribution, which has been developed through its nationwide auction network and online contactless auction platform.

If all 2 million auctioned vehicles were lined up based on an average passenger car length of 4.5 meters, the line would stretch about 9,000 kilometers, which is equivalent to the distance from Seoul to San Francisco in the United States.

Hyundai Glovis began its used car auction business in 2001 and surpassed a cumulative total of 1 million vehicles listed in 2018 after 17 years. In 2023, it exceeded 1.5 million vehicles, and then reached 2 million vehicles in June 2026, continuing its rapid growth trajectory.

This achievement of 2 million vehicles is attributed to several factors: the expansion of auction hubs, the establishment of an online contactless auction system, increased demand for used car exports, and the expansion of direct purchasing from individual customers through the Autovell Sell My Car service.

Currently, Hyundai Glovis operates four auction centers in Incheon, Bundang, Siwha, and Yangsan in South Gyeongsang Province. With a network of more than 2,800 auction member companies—the largest in Korea—approximately 150,000 vehicles are listed annually through these auction centers. The company secures a stable supply of vehicles based on various sourcing channels, including direct purchases from general consumers via the Autovell Sell My Car service, as well as rental and leasing companies, and corporate clients.

The establishment of an online contactless auction system is also cited as a key factor in this growth. In 2020, Hyundai Glovis introduced “Autovell Smart Auction,” the first network-based auction system exclusively for used car auction member companies in Korea. Smart Auction is an online, cloud-based system that integrates used car information from each auction center, which was previously managed separately.

Previously, participating in a used car auction required in-person visits to auction sites. However, with the introduction of Smart Auction, auction member companies can now bid in auctions held at Siwha and Bundang (twice a week) and Yangsan and Incheon (once a week) using a smartphone or PC, without visiting in person. The entire transaction process—from bidding and winning to settlement and requesting vehicle transport—is automated online, enhancing both convenience and efficiency for auction participants.

Additionally, the growth of the used car export market, which has increased participation from export companies in auctions, is considered another factor behind the rise in vehicles listed. Hyundai Glovis has strengthened its presence in the used car market by bridging domestic used car transactions with overseas demand.

A Hyundai Glovis official stated, “By expanding our auction hubs and continuously improving our systems, we have set a new milestone of 2 million vehicles in the domestic auction market. Moving forward, we will continue to promote technological innovation and market expansion to enhance convenience in the used car auction market and lead in fostering a robust used car distribution ecosystem.”
