In a statement received on Saturday, Riefky said that music does not only entertain but also introduces Indonesia’s stories, culture, and identity to the world.
“When Indonesian songs are played in Malaysia, the United States, and many other countries, this reflects the strength of the creative economy in expanding Indonesia’s global influence,” he added.
According to the minister, streaming platforms have expanded access to the music industry while providing more equal opportunities for musicians from various regions to gain wider recognition.
He added that collaboration between the government, the creative industry, and creators is key to building a fair, sustainable, and economically valuable music ecosystem.
Indonesia’s creative economy sector currently employs 27.4 million workers, more than half of whom are from Generation Z and the millennial generation.
The growth reflects strong confidence in Indonesia’s creative industry in creating jobs, attracting investment, and expanding the country’s presence on global platforms, according to the statement.

Riefky also emphasized the ministry’s vision of helping local talent compete in regional and global markets.
“Collaboration and synergy between the government and the industry are crucial elements in building a music ecosystem that is adaptive, inclusive, and competitive,” he said.
Spotify Southeast Asia Managing Director Gustav Back said Indonesian music was discovered more than 6.3 billion times by new listeners on Spotify throughout 2025.
He added that royalties earned by Indonesian musicians through the platform rose by more than 16 percent from the previous year, with around 60 percent generated by overseas listeners.
Spotify data also showed that 80 percent of songs featured in the 2025 Spotify Indonesia Daily Top 50 chart were by Indonesian artists.
“Indonesian music continues to show remarkable growth among listeners both at home and abroad, including in the United States, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom. Spotify remains committed to helping musicians reach new listeners and build fan communities,” Back said.
