JAKARTA – The Social Security Organizing Agency (BPJS) for the North Jakarta area distributed as many as 580 food packages to the North Jakarta Office of the Sub-Office of Manpower, Transmigration and Energy (Sudinakertransgi) on Saturday (2/5/2026) at the North Jakarta Sub-Office of Nakertransgi, Jalan Plumpang Semper, South Tugu Village, Koja District, attended by around 600 workers.

The distribution of hundreds of food packages is in the context of the commemoration of International Labor Day or May Day 2026 which is commemorated every May 1. These food packages will later be distributed to trade unions/workers and BPJS Employment participants.

Head of the BPJS Manpower Jakarta Kelapa Gading Branch Office, Ivan Sahat H Pandjaitan, as the North Regional Coordinator, directly handed over 580 food packages to the Head of the North Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Service Sub-Office, Noviar Dinaryanti, for further distribution to trade unions and workers in North Jakarta.

The total number of food packages distributed by BPJS Employment in the DKI Jakarta Region, which was coordinated by the DKI Jakarta Regional Office, was 3,540 packages, which were distributed to all Disnakertransgi offices in the DKI Jakarta region, with a breakdown of 1,300 packages at the provincial level, East Jakarta 580 packages, Central Jakarta 250 packages, West Jakarta 580 packages, North Jakarta 580 packages, and the distribution of food distributed today at the Disnakertransgi Office of the Government of South Jakarta City South Jakarta 250 packages.

Present at the May Day activity, the Mayor of North Jakarta, Hendra Hidayat, Head of the North Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Sub-Directorate, Noviar Dinaryanti, Deputy Head of the Finance and Risk Management Section of the BPJS Manpower Office for DKI Jakarta, Romi Enriko, and Head of the BPJS Manpower Office for North Jakarta.

The Mayor of North Jakarta, Hendra Hidayat, wants the International Labor Day (May Day) 2026 to be a momentum to strengthen the synergy of government elements, employers, and workers.

Hendra said that the May Day commemoration was not merely an annual ceremonial activity. This momentum must be used as an occasion for joint reflection to encourage the improvement of workers’ welfare.

“May Day is an opportunity to strengthen the ties of brotherhood between the government, workers, and employers or tripartite, as well as strengthen synergy in facing various employment challenges in the future,” he said.

Hendra explained that the world of work today faces dynamic global challenges, ranging from economic uncertainty, digital transformation, to changes in work patterns. These conditions, he said, require strong and sustainable collaboration from all stakeholders.

This year, May Day carries the theme “Collaboration Together to Achieve Industrial Progress and Workers’ Welfare” with the slogan “One Determination, One Goal, Together Prosperous”. The theme emphasizes that industrial progress must go hand in hand with improving workers’ welfare.

“Strengthening industrial relations is the key to creating a conducive business climate, as well as providing legal certainty and protection for workers,” he said.

On the same occasion, Romi Enriko, Deputy Head of Finance and Risk Management of the BPJS Employment Office for DKI Jakarta Region, said that the momentum of May Day commemoration was not only an event for reflection on workers’ struggles, but also as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between all stakeholders in creating a better employment ecosystem.

Romi explained that the provision of 580 food packages from BPJS Employment is a tangible form of synergy between the government and BPJS Employment in providing attention to workers, especially in the momentum of International Labor Day.

“Through this activity, we want to show that BPJS Employment is not only present in providing social security protection, but also through concrete actions that directly touch the needs of workers. Hopefully, synergies like this can continue and provide wider benefits,” he explained.

In addition to the distribution of basic food assistance, this activity was also filled with the distribution of Death Assurance (JKM) and student fees to heirs from 4 branches.
