Vedanta Ltd shares traded 0.83% lower at ₹274.70 apiece on the NSE, while Hindustan Zinc was down around 2.5% at ₹589.

Latest developments to know

Vedanta Ltd on Monday (August 24, 2026) said the company has deployed portable rigs at two of its exploration projects in Chhattisgarh.

In a statement, the company said it has “commissioned India’s first portable rig for gold and critical mineral exploration.”

The rigs have been deployed at two of Vedanta’s flagship exploration projects in Chhattisgarh dedicated to gold and exploration of critical minerals such as nickel, chromium, and platinum group elements, it said.

The rigs — a critical heavy duty mechanical system — can carry out high-speed drilling up to 1,000 metres compared to the typical 300-400 metre range, without losing precious time in inter-location movement.

Critical mineral exploration demands exceptional technical expertise and deep-shaft mining capabilities, Vedanta said.

As the energy transition accelerates, Vedanta said it is positioned to bridge the critical mineral deficit by leveraging its integrated smelting infrastructure and advanced geological tech to unlock complex blocks.

Vedanta Group is the world’s leading producer of metals, oil & gas, critical minerals, power and technology.

Vedanta demerged entities’ listings

On June 15, 2026, Vedanta Group’s four demerged entities — Vedanta Aluminium Metal, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Oil and Gas and Vedanta Iron And Steel — made their stock market debut.

Shares of Vedanta Aluminium Metal began trading at ₹527 on the BSE.

Vedanta Power listed at ₹41.30.

Shares of Vedanta Oil and Gas started trading at ₹39 on the BSE.

Vedanta Iron And Steel shares listed at ₹22.25.

All these firms got listed on the NSE also.

Vedanta Aluminium Metal started trading at ₹522, Vedanta Power listed at ₹41.80, Vedanta Oil and Gas at ₹38, and Vedanta Iron and Steel at ₹20 on the NSE.

Vedanta’s demerger was approved by the National Company Law Tribunal in December last year. Under the 1:1 approved demerger scheme, shareholders will receive one share of each demerged company for every one share held in the currently listed Vedanta Ltd.

What Anil Agarwal said

Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal on Monday, June 15, outlined an ambitious growth roadmap for the group’s newly demerged businesses, saying each vertical has the potential to become a $100 billion opportunity ($100 billion revenue) over time.

The business tycoon also hinted at a possible overseas relisting of parent Vedanta Resources, though he said such a move is unlikely before the next three years.

It must be noted that Vedanta Ltd is the primary Indian subsidiary of the UK-incorporated holding company Vedanta Resources. Both operate as major diversified natural resource conglomerates with extensive portfolios in zinc, aluminium, oil and gas, iron ore, and power.

Agarwal said relisting of Vedanta Resources, which was delisted from the London Stock Exchange (LSE), is not an immediate plan but may be completed in three years’ time.
