RAIA Grid launches 86,000-km fiber platform in Indonesia

PT Infra Fiber Teknologi has launched RAIA Grid, an Indonesian digital-infrastructure platform that says it will provide open-access fiber connectivity for telecommunications operators, data centers, cloud providers, hyperscalers and enterprises.

The company said the platform has an 86,000-kilometer fiber footprint, covering connections from 5G and fiber-to-the-home services to links between data centers. RAIA Grid was established by Arsari Group and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, according to a release issued on August 26.

From network assets to an open-access platform

Indonesia has seen expanding investment in mobile networks, fiber, cloud services and data centers as digital services and artificial-intelligence workloads demand more capacity. RAIA Grid is presenting itself as a separate infrastructure layer for moving data between those systems, rather than as a retail broadband provider.

Its open-access model is intended to serve a range of customers, including operators that need backhaul, data-center operators seeking interconnection and enterprises connecting sites and cloud environments. The company said its footprint would support connectivity from access networks through to data-center-to-data-center routes.

How the platform will operate alongside existing carrier networks will be a central commercial question. A wholesale fiber business can offer customers a choice of routes and access points, but its value depends on local reach, interconnection arrangements, service levels and the ability to expand into areas where demand is growing. RAIA Grid did not release a network map or identify its first customer deployments.

RAIA Grid did not disclose a capital commitment, ownership split, network-capacity metrics or a timetable for additional buildout. Its release also did not specify how much of the stated fiber footprint is already in service, acquired from partners or still to be developed. Those details will be important in assessing the scale of the platform beyond its launch announcement.

AI claims center on network operations

The company said it plans to use machine learning, artificial intelligence and agentic AI in network planning, demand forecasting, route optimization, investment decisions and predictive maintenance. It also said automation could speed deployment and support more autonomous operations.

Those applications are increasingly common in telecom and fiber-network management, where operators use data from network equipment and field operations to anticipate failures, allocate capacity and prioritize upgrades. RAIA Grid did not provide technical detail on the systems it will use, their deployment stage or performance results, so the claims should be read as the company’s stated operating approach rather than demonstrated outcomes.

Hendri Mulya Syam, RAIA Grid’s president director, said the company aims to connect Indonesia’s increasingly complex digital ecosystem, including data centers, and to make connectivity a strategic advantage for the country’s digital future.

Hashim Djojohadikusumo, founder and chairman of Arsari Group, said the platform is part of a long-term effort to strengthen Indonesia’s digital capabilities, including infrastructure, knowledge and talent for artificial intelligence.

Part of a wider Indosat infrastructure push

The launch follows an investment agreement announced in December 2025 involving Indosat, Arsari Group and Northstar Group to form an independent fiber-infrastructure platform. At the time, the parties said the arrangement was intended to strengthen Indonesia’s digital backbone and create a more asset-light approach for Indosat. TNGlobal’s earlier coverage described that venture as FiberCo.

Indosat has separately been expanding its AI and digital-infrastructure ambitions. The company announced an AI-ready 5G modernization initiative with Nokia and NVIDIA in June, and in August it joined Ooredoo Group, Nokia and NVIDIA on the Zankore AI-factory platform.

RAIA Grid’s release did not explain the relationship between the newly named platform, the 2025 FiberCo arrangement and Northstar’s role. It also did not state whether the 86,000 kilometers of fiber sit within a newly transferred asset base or represent a combined operational footprint. The company’s planned commercial offering, pricing model and first customer deployments were not disclosed.

For Indonesia’s cloud and data-center ecosystem, the distinction matters: more interconnection and carrier-neutral infrastructure can improve route diversity and give enterprises options as compute and data workloads become more distributed.
