Hong Kong customs officers have seized suspected men’s sexual health pills and cancer treatment drugs worth more than HK$11 million (US$1.4 million) in a Sheung Shui warehouse, arresting two people.

Inspector Shirley Woo Suet‑yi of the syndicate crimes investigation bureau at the Customs and Excise Department said on Wednesday that officers had noticed a rising demand for controlled pharmaceutical products in recent weeks.

Investigators launched the probe early this month and identified an industrial space in Sheung Shui believed to be linked to smuggling activities.

On Tuesday, customs officers raided the warehouse, which had been used to repackage and store the drugs.

More than 400,000 suspected controlled pharmaceutical items were seized, with an estimated street value exceeding HK$11 million.

A 56‑year‑old woman who received the goods and a 51‑year‑old man employed as a handyman were arrested at the scene. Both held two‑way permits issued by mainland China to enter Hong Kong.

Authorities believe most of the drugs originated from South Asia, although the exact source remains under investigation.
