IFE provider Moment announced a partnership with Garuda Indonesia for the airline’s expansion of its wireless Inflight Entertainment (W-IFE) capabilities. Under a three-year agreement, Moment has deployed 64 Flymingo Box units to enhance the digital onboard experience for Indonesia’s national carrier. These units represent Moment’s proprietary wireless IFE hardware, specifically designed to modernise the inflight journey.
The Flymingo Box is a compact and autonomous solution that enables a seamless Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) experience, allowing passengers to stream a vast library of entertainment directly to their personal smartphones, tablets, or laptops. Each Flymingo Box is designed with a battery life of 12 to 14 hours and can accommodate up to 100 devices concurrently during a flight. To ensure optimal performance and high-quality streaming for all passengers, two devices are typically deployed per aircraft, providing a robust and reliable connection throughout the cabin without the need for complex modifications.
The deployment focuses on 15 selected aircraft within Garuda Indonesia’s fleet, specifically the Boeing 737-800 NG, Boeing 737-8, and Airbus A330-900 Neo.
“Our collaboration with Garuda Indonesia is a testament to the growing demand for flexible and high-performance wireless solutions,” said Tanguy Morel, CEO and co-founder of Moment. “By supporting Garuda with 64 Flymingo Boxes, we are helping them rapidly expand their wireless IFE project, ensuring a modernized service that aligns with the expectations of today’s tech-savvy travelers who prefer using their own devices for a personalized viewing experience.”
To ensure a world-class content offering, Moment has partnered with Anuvu to deliver a diverse and premium entertainment catalog. This selection features the latest Hollywood new releases and blockbusters, a dedicated collection of Indonesian films, as well as high-quality music albums and podcasts. Notably, the Flymingo Box introduces innovative features not currently available on the airline’s traditional seatback IFE, including e-reading materials and vertical dramas, a short-form series format optimized for smartphone viewing. To ensure the experience remains fresh and engaging for frequent flyers, the entire content library is refreshed every two months.
Jet Aviation installs first in-house developed IFE
Jet Aviation announced it has successfully installed its first in-house developed in-flight entertainment (IFE) and cabin management system (CMS) as part of a recent refurbishment project. The redelivery on a narrow-body refurbishment project marks the system’s entry into service following development and certification. Known as ‘IFX’, the fully customizable IFE and CMS software was developed in-house by Jet Aviation engineers. It offers a customized interface to control all aspects of in-flight entertainment and cabin management, including passenger address announcements, lighting, audio, video, and custom functions. The system is built on certified hardware components in line with aviation standards, including Jet Aviation-certified units for the CMS.
“We are incredibly proud to see our in-house IFE and CMS system flying in a customer aircraft,” said Florent Klinger, Head of Engineering at Jet Aviation. “This reflects the close collaboration between our engineers, production, and installation teams, with one another as well as with our customer. Developing the system architecture in-house has enabled us to create a fully customizable system that can seamlessly support customer requirements throughout the aircraft lifecycle, from installation through operation and upgrades.”
The system was installed on a narrow-body refurbishment project completed at Jet Aviation’s maintenance and completion center in Basel. “Bringing IFX into service represents an important milestone for our teams,” said Marco Crescenzi, Senior Director Program Management, Large Aircraft. “Deploying the system on an operational aircraft enables us to capture in-service feedback and continuously enhance the platform, while upholding the reliability and support standards expected in an aircraft environment.”
Jet Aviation’s IFX is available for completion and refurbishment projects at Jet Aviation facilities.
