In a document sent to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers, and automobile and motorcycle manufacturers and assemblers, the Industry Agency said that E10 gasoline will be used nationwide starting June 1.

To ensure the synchronized, safe, and effective use of the fuel in gasoline-powered vehicles across the country, protect consumers’ interests, and minimize technical issues during vehicle operation, the agency requested the associations and businesses carry out a number of tasks.

They were required to review, assess, and determine the compatibility of automobile and motorcycle models currently manufactured, assembled, imported, distributed, and used in the Vietnamese market with E10.

The assessment should focus on key technical factors, including the compatibility of engines, fuel injection systems, fuel supply systems, and fuel-contact materials.

They should also evaluate the impact of the E10 gasoline on vehicle performance, fuel consumption, engine durability, and emissions, as well as identify any technical requirements, maintenance needs, or component replacements necessary to ensure safe and stable operation when the fuel is used.

Manufacturers were also asked to compile lists of vehicle models that are fully compatible with the E10 gasoline, compatible under certain conditions or technical recommendations, or not recommended for use with E10, together with technical explanations and proposed solutions.

The associations and companies were requested to issue official notices and recommendations to consumers through dealer networks, service centers, and public information channels regarding the use of the gasoline for each vehicle model.

The guidance should be clear and easy to understand, covering vehicle models recommended for E10 use, maintenance and operating considerations, recommendations for older vehicles or those with modified technical specifications, and cases in which maintenance should be carried out before switching to the fuel.

They were encouraged to strengthen communications and technical advisory activities to raise public awareness of the environmental benefits, fuel efficiency, and implementation roadmap of biofuels.

In addition, the associations and businesses were required to establish and publish procedures for receiving, inspecting, and handling consumer feedback related to the use of the E10 gasoline.

They were also expected to provide guidance on potential technical issues that may arise during the initial transition period, measures for inspecting and cleaning fuel systems, replacing fuel filters, conducting routine maintenance, and procedures for accessing warranty, maintenance, and technical support services.

The Industry Agency requested manufacturers to instruct their dealer networks and maintenance centers to prepare sufficient personnel, materials, and technical support plans to assist consumers during the transition to the E10 gasoline.

The agency asked the associations and businesses to submit implementation reports by June 5 for consolidation and reporting to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
