Madhav Tiwari delivered a breakthrough all-round performance for Delhi Capitals and was rewarded with the Player of the Match award after helping his side pull off a record chase against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala.

The youngster impressed with both bat and ball in Delhi’s thrilling three-wicket win while chasing 211, playing a key role in keeping the visitors alive in the IPL 2026 playoff race.

“First of all I would like to thank management for giving me this opportunity. I am really happy to be on the winning side,” Madhav said after the match.

The all-rounder revealed that he has spent significant time improving both aspects of his game while waiting patiently for opportunities.

“The mindset is always that if things are not in your hand, you work in the practice sessions, I have worked on my bowling a lot, I have worked on my ranging hitting,” he explained.

Madhav also confidently described himself as a complete all-rounder.

“I would like to say 100 percent bowler, 100 percent batter,” he added.

Bowling on a Dharamsala pitch that offered seam movement and variable bounce, Madhav used the conditions cleverly and mixed up his lengths effectively against PBKS batters.

“The wicket was helping the length ball. I was trying to mix it with wide ball and short ball,” he said.

The youngster admitted he was fully prepared to bowl his full quota after recognising early help for the fast bowlers.

“I was prepared, given the conditions it was supporting the fast bowlers, lucky enough to bowl four overs for the team.”

Madhav also credited Delhi’s batting coach Ricky Ponting’s assistant and former England batter Matthew Mott, popularly known as Belly in the dressing room, for helping him stay calm while batting under pressure.

“Our batting coach Belly said you got the power, you have the technique, don’t try to overhit the ball,” Madhav revealed.
