Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday unveiled the State Government’s ambitious vision to transform Odisha into a leading food processing hub, as the first-ever sector-focused investment roadshow outside the State attracted investment proposals worth ₹43,437 crore.

The investment commitments were announced at Odisha Food Pro 2026, organised in New Delhi to showcase Odisha’s potential in food processing and allied sectors and attract high-value investments.

A total of 27 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed at the event, involving proposed investments of ₹41,748 crore and expected to generate 35,252 employment opportunities. In addition, the Government received 12 Investment Intent Forms (IIFs) involving proposed investments of ₹1,689 crore, with the potential to create another 8,064 jobs.

Cumulatively, the proposals received on the first day of the Chief Minister’s two-day investment outreach in New Delhi amount to ₹43,437 crore, with the potential to generate 43,316 employment opportunities.

Addressing more than 300 industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, food processing associations and business representatives, Majhi said food processing was not merely another industrial sector but a critical link between farmers’ prosperity, rural transformation and Odisha’s industrial growth.

“Food processing is not merely another industry. It is the bridge between our farmers’ prosperity, rural transformation and Odisha’s industrial future,” Majhi said.

He said every investment in the sector would create value at the farm level, generate employment in rural areas, strengthen exports and contribute to a stronger State economy.

“Odisha is ready to become India’s preferred destination for food processing, and I invite industry to partner with us in this journey,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister outlined a long-term strategy to position Odisha as a major hub for value-added food manufacturing, focusing on the creation of specialised food processing clusters, expansion of integrated cold-chain and warehousing infrastructure, strengthening of food quality and certification systems, deeper integration of FPOs, MSMEs and women-led SHGs with organised industry, and development of a globally competitive skilled workforce.

Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said the Government was working to unlock the full potential of Odisha’s agricultural and marine resources and establish the State as a globally competitive destination for value-added food processing.

Chief Minister Majhi also held a series of one-on-one meetings with leading industry representatives to discuss project-specific investment opportunities, strategic partnerships and long-term collaboration in food processing and allied sectors.

The event was attended by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Hemant Sharma, senior State Government officials, representatives of ASSOCHAM, and more than 300 industry stakeholders.
