Dacia announces second generation Spring

With the second generation of the Spring, Dacia is retaining the model name while keeping the concept of its battery-electric city car largely unchanged. The focus remains on delivering a simple and affordable option for urban mobility. Since its market launch in 2021, Dacia reports that the Spring has sold approximately 210,000 units across Europe, with around 50,000 of those sales in Germany. The new generation also marks a shift in production: while the previous Spring was manufactured in China, the next generation will be produced in Europe. However, Dacia has yet to disclose further technical details about the vehicle.

The current Spring received a technical update in autumn 2025. Dacia replaced the previous electric motors, which had outputs of 33 and 48kW, with new powertrains delivering 52 and 75 kW. Additionally, the model became the first vehicle in the Renault Group to feature an LFP battery. Dacia had already given the Spring a comprehensive visual facelift in spring 2024.

However, customers currently do not have access to the full range of options for the existing Spring: Dacia recently temporarily removed the ‘Essential‘ entry-level variant of the Spring from its lineup (DE). The manufacturer cited high demand as the reason. At times, the base model was available for as little as €11,900 due to a €5,000 discount offered by Dacia at the beginning of the year. Currently, the lineup starts with the ‘Expression’ trim at a list price of €18,700, while the manufacturer discount has been reduced to up to €3,000. This discount can now be combined with government incentives.

With the second generation, Dacia is continuing its strategy of offering a comparatively affordable electric car for the mass market. The manufacturer has not yet revealed where the model will be built or when it will be available for purchase.
