According to VAMA’s sales report, total market sales, including imported vehicles sold by companies outside VAMA, reached 33,707 units in July, up 8% from June and 6% from July 2025.

The total included 25,190 passenger cars, 7,888 commercial vehicles and 629 special-purpose vehicles. Compared with the previous month, passenger car sales jumped 20%, while commercial vehicle sales fell 17% and special-purpose vehicle sales rose 10%.

VAMA members alone sold 25,246 vehicles in July, down 5% from the same period in 2025 but up 4% from the previous month. Passenger car sales reached 17,783 units, up 14% from June, while commercial vehicle sales stood at 5,821 units, down 9%.

In terms of vehicle origin across the Vietnamese auto market, including VAMA members and non-VAMA automobile importers, locally assembled vehicles recorded sales of 13,798 units, up 7% from June.

Meanwhile, sales of completely built-up imported vehicles reached 19,909 units, an increase of 9%. Imported vehicles therefore continued to account for the majority of total market sales in July.

Over the first seven months of 2026, total vehicle sales across the market increased 14% compared with the same period in 2025. Passenger car sales rose 9%, commercial vehicles 22% and special-purpose vehicles as much as 82%.

Among VAMA members alone, total sales in the first seven months reached 175,007 vehicles, up 11% from 157,146 units in the same period last year. Passenger car sales totaled 118,104 units, up 9%, while commercial vehicle sales reached 44,313 units, up 6%. Truck sales increased 13%, while bus sales fell 35%.

Hybrid vehicles were another bright spot. The segment maintained strong growth, with 1,636 vehicles sold in July, up 38% year on year despite falling 30% from the previous month. Over the first seven months, VAMA members sold 12,501 hybrid vehicles, an increase of 76% from 7,112 units in the same period of 2025.

By vehicle origin, imports continued to grow at a considerably faster pace than locally assembled vehicles. Through the end of July, sales of domestically manufactured and assembled vehicles reached 98,121 units, up 6% from 2025, while completely built-up imports reached 123,419 units, surging 21% year on year.

However, these figures reflect only part of vehicle demand in Vietnam. In addition to VAMA members and importers, VinFast and Hyundai both record substantial sales volumes but release their figures separately.
