Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur Tops First Asia Pacific Independent Hotel Ranking for Over-50 Travellers

The Greytt 50 scores 28,000 (4&5 star) hotels against 50 criteria, revealing a wide gap between the best and the rest.

SINGAPORE, June 25, 2026–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Greytt today launched The Greytt 50, the world’s first independent ranking of hotels for travellers aged 50 and over. Backed by the Greytt Score™ (patent pending), the inaugural edition assessed 28,000 (4&5 star) properties across 63 Asia Pacific cities against 50 dimensions, from room comforts to navigability.

Topping the ranking is Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur (Greytt Score™ 94.1), followed by The St. Regis Mumbai (93.0) and Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort (92.4). Full list: greytt.ai/greytt-50.

What separates the best from the rest

Top-ranked hotels scored within a narrow 5% range, showing consistent competition. 39 of the 50 earned perfect scores for Wellness & Leisure and 30 for Quiet & Relaxing, excelling in the soundproof, low-noise rooms that shape 50+ travel decisions.

The gap is wider than expected

Of the 28,000 properties assessed, only 50 proved truly Fit-for-50+ — a powerful signal to one of the world’s most valuable, underserved travel segments. Thailand and India account for over half, with Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia also represented.

A segment the industry can no longer afford to overlook

The world is ageing fast: by 2050 the over-60 population will exceed 2 billion, and over-50s rank among the most affluent travellers, set to drive $1.9 trillion of travel spend by 2030. Yet no common standard exists for whether a hotel meets their needs. The Greytt Score™ fills that gap: each property is independently scored 0–100 across 50 dimensions, with no pay-to-rank.
