JAKARTA – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Agency wants to show the image of Jakarta as an open and peaceful city through the “Illumination of Jakarta, Glow of Peace” event.

The event was held in the area of HI Roundabout Jakarta from May 28 to June 1, 2026 to commemorate Vesak Day 2570 Buddhist Era.

“The celebration of Vesak 2026 is an important part of showing the face of Jakarta as an open, peaceful, and enthusiastic city of togetherness,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Andhika Permata in a government press release in Jakarta, Sunday.

He said that the “Illumination of Jakarta, Glow of Peace” event includes spiritual, cultural, and social activities involving Buddhists, cross-religious communities, creative economic actors, and the general public.

Prayers and joint reflections, cultural art performances, light installations, and cultural attractions were held during the event, which was held in collaboration with the Indonesian Buddhist Association (PERMABUDHI) and the Indonesian Buddhist Representative (WALUBI).

“Through cross-sector collaboration, we hope that this activity can provide an unforgettable cultural and spiritual experience for the community and support the growth of the tourism and creative economy sectors in Jakarta,” said Andhika.

Head of Marketing and Attractions of the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Lucky Wulandari said that the art and lighting installation at HI Roundabout is expected to attract tourists and convey a message of peace on Vesak Day.

On the celebration of Vesak 2570 BE/2026, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government hopes that the community can continue to maintain togetherness and harmony in daily life so that Jakarta can become a safe, comfortable, and friendly common space for all.
