JAKARTA – The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Jaya together with Bank Jakarta opened the Bank Jakarta Financial Literacy Special Category in the Mohammad Hoesni Thamrin (MHT) 2026 Journalism Competition. This category challenges journalists to produce journalistic works that raise issues of financial literacy, banking transformation, to the role of Bank Jakarta in encouraging regional economies.

Chairman of PWI Jaya Kesit B. Handoyo said that the collaboration is expected to strengthen the role of the media in delivering financial information that is easy for the public to understand.

“The press has an important role in delivering accurate, educational, and useful information to the public. Through this Special Category of Financial Literacy supported by Bank Jakarta, we hope that journalists can produce works that are not only of journalistic quality, but also able to provide a broader understanding of the contribution of the banking sector to economic development and community welfare,” said Kesit at the PWI Jaya Secretariat, Wednesday, June 10.

According to Kesit, this competition is a space for the press to raise various issues related to banking services, community empowerment, strengthening MSMEs to digital transformation carried out by Bank Jakarta.

This special category is open to mass media journalists throughout Indonesia. Participants can participate in three categories of competitions, namely Feature News, Opinion Articles, and Feature Photos.

There are three main themes that participants can choose from, namely Strengthening SMEs, Digitalization of Jakarta Banking, and Banking Financial Ecosystem. All works must include the keyword “Bank Jakarta” and can use various official information sources provided by the company.

Bank Jakarta President Director Agus H. Widodo assessed that the media has an important role in increasing public understanding of financial services while expanding financial literacy in the midst of banking industry development.

“We believe that the media has a strategic role in building public understanding of inclusive and sustainable financial services. Through this competition, we hope that various works will be born that can objectively describe various innovations, programs, and Bank Jakarta’s contributions to the community and regional economic development,” said Agus.

Similarly, Bank Jakarta Corporate Secretary Arie Rinaldi hopes that the competition can encourage the birth of journalistic works that are informative and have an educational impact on the community.

“Through accurate and balanced journalistic work, it is hoped that the spirit of education carried out through this special category can have a real impact in increasing the level of understanding of financial literacy to the public,” said Arie.

Registration and submission of works are open until July 31, 2026. The jury will select the five best works in each category before determining the winner.

The committee provides prizes in the form of trophies, charters, and cash amounting to IDR 15 million for the first place in each category. Meanwhile, the two best nominees in each category will receive an award charter and coaching money of IDR 5 million.
