TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that 12 neighborhood units (RT) in South Jakarta were flooded following heavy rainfall in the area.

“The flooding was caused by heavy rainfall and the overflowing Krukut River,” said Mohamad Yohan, Head of the Disaster Data and Information Center at the Jakarta BPBD, in Jakarta on Saturday.

He stated that the heavy rains that hit Jakarta and its surrounding areas on Saturday (May 2nd) caused several puddles in South Jakarta.

Yohan added that flooding occurred in 12 RTs in Petogogan Village, Kebayoran Baru District, South Jakarta. “The water level reached 20 cm,” he said.

The Jakarta BPBD deployed personnel to monitor flood conditions in each area and coordinated with the Water Resources Agency, the Public Works Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Agency to drain the puddles and ensure the water channels were functioning properly.

“The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) urges the public to remain cautious and alert to potential flooding. In an emergency, immediately call 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours a day,” he said.
