CHONGQING, July 24 (Xinhua) — Three more victims were found at the site of a mountain collapse in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, local rescue authorities said on Friday.
Multiple rounds of controlled blasting have reduced risks posed by large boulders and potential secondary disasters, allowing rescuers to expand several search areas. Professional rescue teams and heavy machinery are conducting round-the-clock operations. As of 10 p.m. Friday, three more victims had been found, while search and rescue operations remained underway.
The rainfall-induced disaster occurred at 9:08 a.m. on July 17, burying more than 10 residential buildings. ■
