China’s fourth-highest-ranking official, Wang Huning, toured the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone on Friday as part of his “official goodwill visit” to North Korea marking the 65th anniversary of the two countries’ mutual defense treaty.
Wang, chairman of China’s top political advisory body and widely regarded as President Xi Jinping’s top strategist, made the stop at the beach resort — officially opened by North Korea in June 2025 — before concluding his visit and returning to Beijing.
