After more than two weeks without any contact, an Icelandic man who disappeared in Thailand has been located in immigration detention in Bangkok, Icelandic media Rúv reports.
Sindri Freyr Jensson had not been heard from since May 23, when he became separated from his twin brother during a holiday in Pattaya. His family spent weeks searching for answers and appealing to the public for information.
On June 7, the family finally received confirmation from the Icelandic Consul in Thailand that Sindri Freyr was being held by Thai immigration authorities in Bangkok.
While the news brought relief that he had been found, the family remains deeply concerned about his situation.
“We don’t get any information about how he’s doing. We just kniw that the conditions there are dire,” his sister, Erla Björg Jensdóttir, told Rúv.
According to the family, they have been unable to communicate directly with Sindri Freyr or obtain details about his health and well-being. Erla Björg believes he may have been detained on the same day he was separated from his brother.
The family has also expressed gratitude for the support they received during the search, thanking members of the public who shared information and helped raise awareness about the case.
