Meet the Insta360 Luna Ultra, which is the brand’s flagship (and the first-ever) gimbal camera, developed in collaboration with Leica – the fifth product under its six-year partnership. Taking the idea from smartphones, the device primarily features a dual-lens system, along with 3-axis stabilization and AI-assisted tracking, all in a body weighing just over 200 grams.

The primary lens is a Leica Summicron optic paired with a 1-inch 8K sensor, while a secondary lens responsible for telephoto uses a 1/1.3-inch sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and up to 240mm / 12x zoom (including 120mm / 6x optical zoom), across five preset focal lengths. Video recording supports 8K 30fps with Dolby Vision and 10-bit I-Log capture (with PureVideo mode supporting 4K 60fps), along with up to 14 stops of dynamic range, while still photography supports 37MP UltraPhoto and 200MP Scenic Panorama images.

Insta360 Luna Ultra also features an industry-first detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen that supports remote monitoring and control with HD transmission up to 20 meters. On top of the 3-axis OIS+EIS stabilization, Deep Track 5.0 takes care of subject tracking, comprising Auto Tracking, Active Zoom Tracking, Group Tracking, and Smart Framing modes. According to the company, a “Triple AI Chip” is responsible for image processing across these functions.

Luna Ultra includes Leica color profiles (Natural, Vivid, and Chrome) and supports the ACES professional color workflow for post-production use, and built-in timecode enables multi-camera synchronization compatible with professional NLE software such as Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro. It also include QR Color Share feature for transferring color settings between devices and AI-assisted editing within the Insta360 app.

For audio, the camera features a built-in wind guard and direct compatibility with Insta360 Mic systems for single or dual-transmitter configurations. Optional accessories include a POV Head Tracker, Black Mist filters, a Wide-Angle Lens expanding the FOV to 108°, and ND filters for motion blur effects and exposure control. The unit also includes a 1,550mAh battery rated for up to four hours of use, while 45W fast charging fills 80% in about 23 minutes; it comes with 47GB of built-in storage, and users can install microSD cards to expand up to 1TB of additional capacity.

The Insta360 Luna Ultra is available now via the Insta360 Store, Shopee, Lazada, and select retailers, priced at RM2,999 with Cosmic Black and Stellar White color options.

Pokdepinion: Another player in the gimbal camera competition. That should push prices down, I hope.
