Vaikobi, the Australian-owned performance watersports brand trusted by paddlers, sailors and foilers worldwide, today announced a partnership with Starboard Japan, led by Nakagama Yoichi, to establish “Vaikobi Japan” as its exclusive distributor in Japan.

This strategic partnership marks another important step in Vaikobi’s ongoing global expansion, and positions the brand for future growth in one of the world’s most passionate and dynamic watersports markets.

Starboard Japan brings a long-standing reputation as one of the most important and respected companies in Japanese watersports. Led by founder Nakagama Yoichi, who is widely regarded as a founding figure in the development of windsurfing in Japan, Starboard Japan has built deep credibility and influence across the market over many decades. Today, the company is supported by a large team of ocean athletes including professional paddlers, foilers and sailors, making it an ideal partner to represent Vaikobi in the region.

Kota Tayashiki, Vaikobi Japan, said: “We are truly excited to have the opportunity to introduce Vaikobi’s products, which are designed with a genuine focus on safety and freedom of movement, to people across Japan.Through this partnership, we aim to create opportunities for more people to experience authentic, high-performance gear across all marine sports, and to help grow a deeper understanding of what real performance products should be.”

With strong participation across paddle sports, foiling, sailing and wind sports, Japan represents a key market for Vaikobi’s growing range of technical apparel and performance gear, and a strong fit for the global business.

Pat Langley, Founder and CEO of Vaikobi, adds: “Japan has a special place in my heart from my time spent living there in my late teens and early twenties as a professional sailor. The watersports market in Japan is electric, and Japanese sailors, paddlers and foilers are amongst the most enthusiastic people you will ever meet. To be able to provide an increased offering and accessibility of Vaikobi gear for the Japanese market is extremely exciting, and this partnership with the best technical water sport company in Japan with Starboard Japan, positions us strongly for our future growth there.”

With Starboard Japan now leading distribution in the market, Japanese customers will benefit from improved access to Vaikobi’s expanding range of performance gear, designed for the demands of paddling, foiling, sailing and other ocean sports.

Founded in Sydney, Australia, Vaikobi has built a global reputation for designing innovative gear that increases comfort, performance and enjoyment on the water. The brand’s athlete-led approach and technical product range have made it a trusted name for elite competitors and everyday ocean enthusiasts alike.

The official website to buy Vaikobi gear in Japan is vaikobi-japan.com
