Hong Kong Airport, The Wing, First Dining Room

Cathay Pacific has revealed a fully redesigned version of its flagship The Wing, First lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, marking a new phase in its premium ground experience strategy.

Set to reopen on 22 April 2026, the lounge introduces a more refined, residential-style design developed with StudioIlse, combining familiar elements with enhanced privacy, comfort and service.

Key features

The redesigned space centres around:

  • A light-filled Atrium with a signature bar and flexible all-day dining
  • An upgraded Dining Room offering à la carte service and Chinese dishes in partnership with Mott 32
  • Expanded wellness facilities, including private relaxation booths and massage services
  • New workspace areas (“The Bureau”) designed for privacy and productivity

Materials such as green onyx, walnut wood and granite reflect a more premium aesthetic, while new furniture and lighting aim to create a warmer, more residential feel.

Broader investment strategy

The project is part of a wider overhaul of Cathay’s lounge network, alongside:

  • Recent upgrades in Hong Kong and Beijing
  • A planned new lounge in New York JFK Terminal 6
  • Renovation of The Wing Business lounge, due to reopen in 2027

The airline says the redesign aligns with a broader investment programme exceeding HK$100 billion, covering fleet, cabins, lounges and digital services.

Positioning

Cathay is focusing on:

  • High-end differentiation in premium travel
  • Seamless customer experience across the journey
  • Strengthening Hong Kong’s role as a global aviation hub

Bottom line

With the relaunch of The Wing, First, Cathay Pacific is reinforcing its premium brand positioning, using lounge design, privacy and wellness as key differentiators in an increasingly competitive long-haul market.
