Watch: Visit Dubai shares video of Dubai reimagined in LEGO

The video was shared by Dubai’s official tourism account

Dubai wasn’t built overnight. It grew brick by brick into the city it is today – a fitting comparison to a video from Dubai’s official tourism account, Visit Dubai, which reimagines the city in LEGO form.

The video features some of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks, including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Metro, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Marina, Dubai Frame, Zabeel Park and Ain Dubai – all reimagined in LEGO.

We also see scenes from Dubai International Airport, with Emirates aircraft loading luggage and taking off against the skyline, alongside everyday moments of people walking through the city, relaxing in parks and strolling along the beach.

The video was created by production agency CGI Dubai, and it’s not the first playful reimagining of the city they’ve produced.

In the past, the studio has imagined Dubai in Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto (yes, we even got Grand Theft Auto Dubai before GTA VI), as well as reworking Dubai taxis as tuk tuks. You can check out their videos on @cgi.dxb

While you can’t fit the entire city of Dubai into a LEGO display at home, you can pick up a miniature skyline set featuring Emirates Towers, the Dubai Frame, Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa.

Dubai reimagined

In the past, digital artists have shared their visions of Dubai across a range of imaginative worlds.

And judging by the internet, there are plenty of GTA fans among CGI creators, with several videos reimagining Dubai in a GTA-style world.

If you haven’t seen them yet, it’s worth taking a scroll through these digital creations. Digital artist Jyo John Mulloor has reimagined Dubai’s iconic landmarks on the lush alien world of Pandora, as well as a snow-covered Abu Dhabi. He also created a vision of a greener Dubai in April 2022, aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
