Iranian attacks have hit Kuwait’s power generation and water desalination plant for the second time in two days, causing damage to facilities, a fire, and the disruption of a large number of electricity generation units, Kuwaiti authorities reported on Sunday.

In a statement, Kuwait’s Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Ministry said that emergency plans were activated, and the incident was dealt with immediately to mitigate its impact and maintain the stability of the electrical grid.

The blaze was brought under control by firefighters, while technical teams began assessing the damage, securing the station and working to restore the affected electricity generation units to service as soon as possible.

Kuwaiti defence forces had earlier reported that it was intercepting Iranian missile and drone attacks after the US completed its eighth consecutive strike on Iran.
