
The national men’s 4x100m swimming quartet qualified for the final of the freestyle relay at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after clearing the preliminary round today.
Khiew Hoe Yean, Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal, Lim Yin Chuen and Tan Khai Xin clocked 3:23.90s to finish third behind Australia (3:14.53s) and England (3:14.68s).
They placed sixth overall, earning them a place among the eight teams in the final, scheduled to be held tonight (early Saturday morning in Malaysia) with the national quartet expected to face a strong challenge from traditional swimming powerhouses such as Australia, Canada, England and South Africa.
Malaysia’s national record in the event stands at 3:20.61s, set by Hoe Yean, Arvin, Yin Chuen and Terence Ng at the 2023 SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
