HK Express launches Hong Kong–Wuxi route: HK Express Airways has launched a new route between Hong Kong and Wuxi in Jiangsu Province. Operating daily direct flights to Wuxi Shuofang Airport (WUX) with a flight time of around 2.5 hours, Wuxi marks the airline’s sixth destination in the Chinese Mainland. This addition further strengthens the route network across the Yangtze River Delta, deepening two-way connections between Hong Kong and the region’s core city clusters. “Wuxi marks our sixth destination in the Chinese Mainland and represents another important step in HK Express’ continued expansion across the regional network,” said HK Express CEO Jeanette Mao. “The launch of this new daily direct service provides travellers between Hong Kong, Wuxi and the wider Eastern China region with a more convenient, flexible and affordable travel option. Through our codeshare partnership with Cathay Pacific, we are also enabling passengers from Wuxi and southern Jiangsu province to connect seamlessly via Hong Kong to a wide range of destinations across Asia and around the world. Playing an important role in the Cathay Group’s dual-brand strategy, HK Express will continue to leverage Hong Kong’s strength as an international aviation hub, further enhancing connectivity between the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and global markets while offering travellers more choices to fly on their own terms.”
Flydubai doubles daily flights to Bangkok: Dubai-based carrier flydubai has announced the introduction of a second daily flight to Bangkok from 18 July. The additional service comes just weeks after the launch of the carrier’s daily flights to Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) on 01 July, offering passengers greater connectivity and more travel options to Thailand’s capital during the busy summer travel period. With the start of its second daily service to Bangkok and the increase of its Krabi service from four weekly flights to daily operations, flydubai will operate up to 21 weekly flights to Thailand, expanding its presence in the market. In addition to its expanded services to Bangkok, flydubai recently launched flights to Benghazi in Libya and is scheduled to start flights to Aleppo in Syria from 20 July and to Pokhara in Nepal from 23 September.
Akasa Air and BPCL partner on SAF: Akasa Air and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing the adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in India. The partnership marks an important step towards strengthening the country’s SAF ecosystem and supports India’s broader decarbonization ambitions, while aligning with global aviation sustainability frameworks including ICAO’s CORSIA mandate. Under the MoU, Akasa Air and BPCL have collaborated on establishing a framework for supply and offtake of SAF blended Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) at designated airports across India. The partnership will also focus on enabling long-term supply readiness by sharing indicative demand forecasts, supporting production planning and working towards a phased increase in SAF blending as the domestic ecosystem matures. Both organisations will also jointly support the development of India’s SAF ecosystem through knowledge sharing, policy advocacy and engagement with government and industry stakeholders.
Porter Airlines goes live with Lifecycle Asset Management from flydocs: Flydocs, the aviation global leader in digital records, asset management, and engineering services, today announced the successful migration and Go-Live of its Lifecycle Asset Management (LAM) solution for Porter Airlines. This collaboration builds on Porter Airlines’ existing Digital Records Management (DRM) platform powered by flydocs, thereby enhancing its operational efficiency and fleet management capabilities. Being the first LAM customer in the Americas, Porter Airlines will now benefit from integrating its flydocs DRM platform with flydocs LAM to meet lease return conditions, supported by predictive analytics and scenario modelling that enable smarter decisions on maintenance, costs, and the risk of penalties during aircraft transitions. This significant collaboration also reinforces Porter Airlines’ existing partnership with Lufthansa Technik’s Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem-Swiss AviationSoftware, the developer of the leading maintenance and engineering (M&E) software AMOS, as they announce the successful launch of their Tech Ops Live for real-time fleet visibility. Through this, operational stakeholders will be able to access a broader technical picture in a single mobile app, consolidating real-time fleet status, maintenance progress, operational KPIs, and lease return information into a single view.
Singapore Airlines releases June operating results: In June 2026, the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group’s passenger traffic increased 4.1% year-on-year, underpinned by robust demand for air travel. Passenger capacity grew 6.0% over the same period. As a result, the Group’s passenger load factor (PLF) was 87.1%, with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 86.4% and 89.5% respectively. The two airlines carried a combined total of 3.7 million passengers, 6.3% higher than a year ago. Cargo carriage increased by 8.5% year-on-year, bolstered by artificial intelligence (AI)- and data centre-related movements, as well as frontloading of e-commerce volumes into Europe ahead of the implementation of the European Union’s small parcel duty from 1 July 2026. Overall cargo loads grew 5.1% year-on-year, against a 2.3% reduction in capacity. The cargo load factor rose by 4.2 percentage points to 60.6%. During the month, SIA launched services to Hangzhou in mainland China, while Scoot launched services to Pontianak in Indonesia. Scoot resumed passenger services to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on 22 June 2026, but subsequently suspended flights from 14 July 2026, following the escalation of hostility in the Middle East. SIA’s services to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates remain suspended. As of 30 June 2026, the Group’s passenger network1 covered 137 destinations in 36 countries and territories. SIA served 78 destinations, while Scoot served 85 destinations. The cargo network comprised 139 destinations in 36 countries and territories.
Cathay Pacific ramps up Christchurch services for the summer season: Christchurch Airport has welcomed Cathay Pacific’s decision to boost its Christchurch to Hong Kong service to five flights a week during the peak summer months, providing South Islanders with more travel choice and stronger connections into Asia, Europe and beyond. The seasonal service will operate three times a week between 1 November 2026 and 27 March 2027, increasing to five weekly flights from December through February to meet strong seasonal demand. Christchurch Airport Chief Executive Justin Watson said the increased schedule reflects the continued strength of the South Island market. “Cathay Pacific has been a valued Christchurch Airport partner since 2017, and this increase is another vote of confidence in our region. More flights mean more choice for travellers, stronger connections to key international markets, and greater opportunities for South Island exporters.”
