Two British heritage retailers have come together in Keswick as Charles Clinkard footwear officially moves into the Lakeland Leather store on Lake Road.
Following the recent announcement of the closure of Charles Clinkard’s standalone Keswick store after 18 years in the town, the footwear retailer will continue serving local customers and visitors from within Lakeland Leather.
The partnership brings together two long-established brands and ensures Charles Clinkard retains a presence in the heart of Keswick.
Lakeland Leather, founded in Cumbria more than 70 years ago, says the move will strengthen the town’s retail offering and give shoppers even more reason to visit the store.
The addition of Charles Clinkard footwear will complement Lakeland Leather’s existing range of leather bags, jackets, accessories and travel goods, creating a broader lifestyle shopping experience under one roof.
The two retailers already successfully trade together from Lakeland Leather’s Beverley store, making the Keswick collaboration a natural next step.
The Keswick store is also entering a new chapter with Sam Leith recently appointed as store manager.
Sam joins the store from Lakeland Leather’s Carlisle branch and brings extensive retail experience along with a strong focus on customer service and community.
Martin Foster, managing director of Lakeland Leather, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Charles Clinkard into our Keswick store. They’ve built a loyal customer base in the town over many years and we know many local people will be delighted to continue shopping the brand locally.
Tim Payne, group managing director of Clinkards said Keswick has always been an important town for the business.
