Duplo, a financial operating system designed for African businesses, has joined forces with Wema Bank to bring streamlined financial management to companies operating on the ALAT by Wema Bank platform.
Under the agreement, firms using ALAT will be able to tap into Duplo’s financial operations technology, giving them the ability to automate payments, oversee expenses and approvals, issue and collect invoices, and govern financial workflows from one connected environment.
The tie-up addresses a common pain point for expanding companies, where banking represents just one piece of the wider financial operations puzzle.
Finance departments frequently juggle invoicing, vendor payments, expense requests, collections and reconciliation across a patchwork of spreadsheets, emails, banking portals and accounting software. This scattered approach can lead to mistakes, delays, limited cash visibility and weakened controls, hampering efficient growth.
Through the integration, ALAT business users will gain capabilities spanning domestic and cross-border payments, expense oversight and approvals, invoice creation and collections, automated vendor payments, real-time reporting, and workflow controls delivered by Duplo. Existing ALAT business customers will also enjoy three months of complimentary access to the platform, letting them trial its automation features without extra charge.
Wema Bank executive director – finance & digital optimization Tunde Mabawonku said, “This partnership reflects our focus on building a digital banking platform that supports how businesses actually operate.
“By integrating Duplo into ALAT, we are giving our customers access to tools that simplify financial management and support their growth. We understand that businesses today need more than payment services. This integration strengthens our product offering enabling us to deliver a more comprehensive digital banking experience for our customers while supporting business growth across Nigeria.”
Duplo CEO & co-founder Yele Oyekola said, “Our goal is to help businesses run their financial operations with greater clarity and control. Many businesses today are still managing payments, expenses, and reconciliation across systems which slow decision making and create unnecessary operational risks. Partnering with Wema Bank allows us to deliver that experience within a platform business already trust. By embedding our platform within ALAT, we aim to make it easier for companies to manage finances in real time, improve visibility over their cash flow, and scale their operations confidently.”
