  • China is facing widespread flight delays and cancellations due to bad weather conditions and airspace regulations in some areas.
  • The worst affected cities include Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, while the most affected airlines include China Eastern Airlines, Spring Airlines, and Shanghai Airlines.

Travellers across China are facing flight delays and cancellations due to unfavourable weather conditions and airspace restrictions in some areas. As of July 21, 2026, flight operations are heavily affected in China’s largest and busiest aviation hubs, including Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou. Regional airports are feeling the brunt of the choked airways as well, with several local flights affected.

The airlines worst affected include Shanghai Airlines, Spring Airlines, and China Eastern, according to a report on Travel and Tour World. Passengers are being urged to check their flight status before leaving home for the airport.

A flight disruption certificate, an official document issued by an airline confirming the exact time, duration, and reason for a flight delay or cancellation, is required to process refunds for cancelled/delayed flights.

Here’s a quick look at some of the flight cancellations and delays across China:

  • China Eastern had to cancel flight MU8584 to Kuala Lumpur from Shanghai.
  • A China Eastern flight MU746 from Shanghai to Buenos Aires has been delayed by several hours.
  • The airline also cancelled its flight MU5024 from Shanghai to Cebu.
  • China Eastern’s flight number MU2078 from Bangkok to Guangzhou was cancelled as well.
  • Air China cancelled its flight CA1400 from Changsha to Beijing, while another flight CA1300 from Yulin to Beijing might be delayed, with no updates as of now.
  • Air China has also cancelled its flight CA1837 from Guangzhou to Shanghai.
  • Air China flight CA9800, from Dali City to Beijing, might be diverted.
  • Sichuan Airlines’ flight 3U8831 from Beijing to Chongqing has been cancelled.
  • Air China’s flight CA1524 from Shanghai to Beijing might be delayed.
  • 2 flights to Guangzhou, 1 from Nanjing (CZ3844) and 1 from Ningbo (CZ8294), by China Southern Airlines have been delayed.
  • Spring Airlines’ flight 9C8988 from Shanghai to the Ibaraki Prefecture has been cancelled.
  • Spring Airlines also cancelled its flight 9C6572 from Shanghai to Osaka.
  • China Eastern Airlines’ flight MU5340 from Shenzhen to Shanghai has been delayed.
  • Shanghai Airlines cancelled its flight FM9082 from Shenyang to Shanghai.
