Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai encouraged the strengthening of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Georgia, including cooperation in the advancement of human rights, tolerance, and social justice at the global level.

In a statement here on Wednesday, Pigai said that both countries share common values in upholding independence, mutual respect among nations, and the importance of dialogue in facing global challenges.

“Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to advancing the universal values of human rights, tolerance, and social justice, while emphasizing the importance of constructive engagement and partnerships among nations,” Pigai said at the celebration of Georgia’s Independence Day here on Tuesday (May 26).

He assessed that the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Georgia continue to grow and hold the potential to be expanded in several strategic sectors, ranging from trade, education, and culture, to tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

According to him, strengthening people-to-people exchanges is also important to expand mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including humanitarian issues and sustainable development.

Pigai also appreciated the role of the Ambassador of Georgia to Indonesia, Tornike Nozadze, in fostering bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the economic and trade sectors.

He stated that strengthening international cooperation is crucial amid increasingly complex global challenges, thereby requiring partnerships that prioritize inclusivity and respect for human rights.

The Indonesian government also praised Georgia’s contribution to supporting stability and sustainable development at the international level.

In addition, Minister Pigai expressed hope that relations between Indonesia and Georgia would continue to grow closer and be capable of strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation in the future.
