I’m a flip-flop person through and through. I own more pairs than I care to admit, but each one has its place—rubber pairs for the beach, dressier styles for dinner, and cushioned sandals for days when I know I’ll be logging serious miles. Finding a comfortable pair of flip-flops that’s both supportive enough to walk in all day and polished enough to wear beyond the pool, though, is rare.
That’s why my new leather platform FitFlops have quickly become my go-to pair. They have built-in arch support, a subtle lift that instantly makes an outfit feel more put together, and, best of all, they were comfortable from the very first wear. From the moment I first slipped on these shoes, my feet thanked me. They were ready for the miles out of the box, and I was ready to oblige.

The comfort comes down to their thoughtful design. FitFlop’s signature triple-density cushioning helps absorb impact and reduce fatigue, while the contoured footbed offers supportive arch support that makes long walks feel noticeably easier. The result is a flip-flop that’s genuinely comfortable enough for all-day wear, whether I’m wandering through an airport, exploring a new city, or spending hours on my feet.
I should mention I am a petite gal, and some of my pants and dresses call for a higher shoe. With these sandals, I get the height I need so my hems don’t drag on the ground. They’re also one of the few flip-flops in my closet that feel elevated enough to wear beyond the beach. I love the buttery-soft leather straps, the oversized brushed-metal buckle, and the subtle domed hardware, all of which give them a more polished look than your average sandal. The platform sole adds just enough height without sacrificing stability, making it an easy choice when I want the comfort of a flip-flop with a dressier feel.
Since getting my FitFlops, I’ve worn them on multiple walks to my favorite neighborhood, to restaurants and cafés, and even to a Kentucky Derby party—the bouncy support feels fantastic for hours. On a hot day, though, I’m usually ready to take them off after a couple of miles; while they’re still incredibly comfortable and supportive, the footbed can start to feel a little clammy.
I’ll be trekking around Europe later this summer with my daughter, exploring the canals of Amsterdam and the cobblestone paths of the French Riviera and Mallorca. These shoes will be coming with me because they are the most comfortable pair of “dressy” shoes I own.
If my favorite FitFlops aren’t your thing, there are plenty more supportive styles to shop. Here are five similar options I’d recommend for long days on your feet—they’re all available at Amazon, and they start at just $40.
