Wego Chemical Group and related companies have violated statutory requirements by failing to report more than 200 chemicals, the EPA said in a complaint announced Monday.
Wego and six related companies imported hundreds of millions of pounds of hundreds of toxic chemicals, mostly from China, without meeting federal reporting requirements, the Environmental Protection Agency said in announcing an administrative complaint filed last month.
“We cannot have companies profit from importing unknown and toxic Chinese chemicals, distributing them without oversight, and threatening unprepared American communities,” said Jeffrey Hall, assistant EPA administrator for enforcement and compliance assurance, in a statement.
