BOWIE COUNTY, Texas — Specialty chemical manufacturer COIM USA plans a $50 million expansion at TexAmericas Center that will establish chemical production operations in the Texarkana area and add manufacturing jobs, according to an announcement released Tuesday.

The project follows COIM USA’s 2024 purchase of a 20-acre site at TexAmericas Center that includes a 25,000-square-foot rail-served facility. The company plans to begin operations in the existing facility during the first quarter of 2027.

Company officials said the facility will produce renewable polyols made primarily from cashew nutshell liquid, a plant-based industrial feedstock. The products will be added to COIM USA’s existing polyester polyol product line.

COIM USA also plans a larger expansion that would add about 100 million pounds of annual production capacity for additional specialty chemical products. The company expects those facilities to begin operating in the first quarter of 2028.

The project received support through property tax abatement agreements approved by the Bowie County Commissioners Court and the Texarkana College Board of Trustees. Other organizations involved in the project include Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas and TexAmericas Center.

COIM USA said it is hiring for several positions associated with the project, including manufacturing, maintenance, quality control and production management roles, along with production operators and technicians. Additional positions are expected as construction and expansion activities continue.

COIM USA is a subsidiary of the Italy-based COIM Group and manufactures polyesters, polyurethanes, adhesives, coatings, elastomers and other specialty chemical products.
