Loganair agrees long-term SAF offtake with ClimaHtech Green Flight to support decarbonisation of regional aviation
Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, and Northern Ireland-based ClimaHtech Green Flight have announced a 15-year Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) offtake agreement aimed at supporting the long-term decarbonisation of regional aviation.

Under the agreement, Loganair intends to secure SAF supply over a 15-year period, with fuel to be produced using ClimaHtech Green Flight’s advanced technology pathways, including BioSAF (Power-Biomass-to-Liquid) and eSAF (Power-to-Liquid). ClimaHtech Green Flight is a Belfast-based subsidiary of the net-zero technology company CATAGEN.
The company’s platform enables decentralised SAF production, designed to utilise waste biomass feedstocks and integrate with intermittent renewable power sources through its proprietary system.

ClimaHtech Green Flight is currently developing a First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) SAF production project, which aligns closely with Loganair’s core operational network across the Scottish Highlands, Islands and regional UK routes, including Northern Ireland.
The agreement supports the UK Government’s SAF mandate and reflects a shared ambition to scale locally produced sustainable fuel solutions capable of serving regional aviation closer to where aircraft operate, while reducing lifecycle carbon emissions.
Luke Farajallah, chief executive of Loganair, said the deal marked an important step in securing long-term access to sustainable fuel.

He said: “As the UK’s largest regional airline, Loganair plays a vital role in connecting communities across the UK, particularly in areas where aviation is a lifeline rather than a luxury.
“Decarbonising regional aviation is therefore both a responsibility and a practical challenge. This long-term agreement with ClimaHtech Green Flight is an important step in securing access to Sustainable Aviation Fuel that is produced closer to where we operate, supports UK supply chains, and reflects our commitment to lower our carbon footprint.”
Mel Courtney, chief executive officer of ClimaHtech Green Flight, added: “This offtake agreement with Loganair demonstrates strong airline confidence in our SAF pathways and our ambition to build a distributed, regional SAF production model.
“The ClimaHtech electrically driven platform is more tolerant to intermittent renewable power supply thus enabling direct connection to renewable electricity assets. By combining this with highly efficient energy and biomass utilisation, we are bringing a scalable and resilient approach to SAF deployment.”
The parties will continue to work together as ClimaHtech Green Flight advances project development, regulatory engagement, and site selection, with a view to supplying SAF by 2029.
