U Mobile has announced its partnership with Pavilion REIT to deploy in-building 5G connectivity across several high-traffic commercial, retail and hospitality properties in Kuala Lumpur, set to “enhance the overall indoor connectivity to support smarter building operations and complements the broader 5G infrastructure within the properties.”

U Mobile And Pavilion REIT Expand In-Building 5G Coverage Across Kuala Lumpur Properties

The indoor 5G rollout will be covering locations comprising Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Tower, Pavilion Elite, Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur, Intermark Mall, and Pavilion Bukit Jalil – most locations involved located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city center, so high visitor count is a given; hence, reliable indoor network performance is required to handle such high number of connectivity workloads.

The telco operator will deploy and manage a 5G-Advanced in-building coverage (IBC) system designed to improve network performance across large and high-density indoor environments, where connectivity is often affected by structural and usage constraints; more importantly, the system also supports multiple mobile network operators to provide more consistent coverage for tenants, businesses and visitors regardless of service provider.

Per its press release, U Mobile says it’ll collaborate with Pavilion REIT to “explore 5G-A use cases to support the digitalization of their building operations.” This may involve security monitoring, smart sensors and parking solutions to ensure the reliability of property infrastructure even during peak hours. For the end users, they can expect improved performance and signal reliability when connected to 5G networks indoors.

Pokdepinion: Good news for visitors!
