KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Education Department (JPWPKL) said firm action will be taken against all parties involved in a school bullying incident that recently went viral.

In a statement on Wednesday (April 22), JPWPKL said the school, under the supervision of JPWPKL and the Keramat District Education Office, has taken immediate action, including contacting the parents and guardians of the students involved, conducting a comprehensive internal investigation, and lodging a report with the police.

“JPWPKL views the misconduct involving students at a local school seriously and regrets the incident, which has circulated on social media.

“Students linked to the incident have been referred for guidance and counselling sessions.

“JPWPKL has drawn up an intervention plan to address the bullying case comprehensively and will engage with the parents involved,” the statement read.

At the same time, it reminded the public not to share content on social media that could reveal students’ identities, particularly minors’, to safeguard their welfare and rights.

“JPWPKL is committed to addressing bullying comprehensively to ensure that all educational institutions remain safe, conducive, and prosperous for students, teachers, and all school staff,” it said.

Recently, the media reported that the 10-year-old son of a popular actor was allegedly bullied by five students at school.

The actor, who took to social media to voice his outrage, said the incident involved two senior students and three of his son’s classmates.

He added that he only became aware of what had happened after his son returned home from school and told him.
