The following is the list of the top 3 news on Tempo English today:

1. TNI Explains Why Troops Were Sent to Jakarta Student Rally

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) said its personnel were deployed to assist in securing a student-led protest in Central Jakarta on Friday, June 12, 2026, following a request from the National Police (Polri).

Brig. Gen. Muhammad Nas, head of the TNI Information Center, said the military’s involvement was carried out under established security coordination procedures. Read more.

2. 2026 World Cup: Germany vs Curacao Prediction

The Germany vs Curacao duel will be presented in the first match of Group E 2026 World Cup at Houston Stadium, United States, on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 00.00 WIB and broadcasted live by TVRI. FIFA categorizes this match as a ‘David versus Goliath’ showdown, as it brings together one of the strongest forces in the history of world football with a debutant hailing from a country with a population of less than 160 thousand people.

Germany comes in as the favorite. The team known as ‘Die Mannschaft’ ranks 10th in the FIFA world rankings and has been the world champion four times, while Curacao is positioned at 82nd and is making its first appearance in the World Cup finals. However, the World Cup often presents surprises. Check out the full prediction here.

3. Jakarta Denies Claims CCTV at HI Roundabout Was Disabled During Student Protest

The Jakarta Provincial Government has responded to reports that several CCTV cameras near the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout were offline during a student protest. Jakarta Governor’s spokesperson, Cyril Raoul Hakim, known as Chico Hakim, denied the claim, saying all 10 government-operated cameras in the area were functioning normally.

Chico said some cameras may have been temporarily inaccessible to the public due to technical issues. Read more about Jakarta’s explanation for the reported CCTV outage during the protest here.
