Follow-up on Citizen Complaints, Jakut Urai Police Traffic Jam on BKT Cilincing

JAKARTA – The North Jakarta Metro Police carried out a breakdown of the congestion that often occurs in the East Canal Flood (BKT) area, Cilincing, North Jakarta on Monday, May 4, 2026.

The breakdown of the congestion was carried out after there were many reports related to congestion in the area.

After the decomposition was carried out, the flow of the stream, which had previously been blocked, was gradually normal.

North Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Erick Frendriz said that handling traffic jams was effective. The breakdown of the traffic jam was led directly by the Police Chief to the affected location.

“We ensure that the handling is carried out quickly and appropriately. Personnel have made arrangements, and currently traffic conditions are beginning to unravel,” said North Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Erick Frendriz when confirmed.

In addition to handling, the police also appealed to the public to remain disciplined in traffic.

Road users are asked to comply with signs and follow the instructions of officers to avoid similar congestion.

According to him, the congestion was triggered by the diversion of traffic from the Bekasi-Cakung Highway, which was undergoing project work. Many drivers choose alternative routes through the Harapan Indah area, Medan Satria, Kota Bekasi.

However, at the border point to Rorotan, there is a bottleneck, especially in the bridge area, which causes significant congestion during the morning rush hour.

“The volume of vehicles increased quite high from Bekasi to Jakarta, while the capacity of the road at that point is limited, so there is a buildup of vehicles,” he said.

The Police Chief stated that he would continue to monitor and regulate to anticipate further congestion, especially during rush hours.
