TEMPO.CO, Jakarta –  European football heavyweights Chelsea and AC Milan will face off in a pre-season match in Indonesia at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta on August 8, 2026.

According to Chelsea’s official website on Thursday, the visit to Jakarta is part of its Asia pre-season tour ahead of the 2026/2027 season.

Reece James and his teammates will also travel to Sydney, Australia, and Hong Kong to play Juventus.

AC Milan welcomed the historic fixture, saying the Jakarta match will be a special moment to celebrate its strong fan base in Indonesia.

“The Rossoneri return to Jakarta to face Chelsea in a landmark clash and to celebrate the passion of the world’s third-largest AC Milan fanbase,” the club said on its website.

“A new and significant stop has been added to AC Milan’s 2026 PreSeason Tour.”

AC Milan is set to travel to Jakarta, Indonesia, where it will face Chelsea FC at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Saturday, August 8 at 07:00 PM local time.

The fixture is being billed as a historic milestone, marking the first meeting between two leading European clubs on Indonesian soil.

For Chelsea, the match will carry a sense of nostalgia, as it marks a return to Indonesia 13 years after their first visit.

Back then, Chelsea played in front of 80,000 fans at GBK against Indonesia All-Stars, winning 8-1, with goals from stars such as Eden Hazard and John Terry.

Organizers have set a two-phase ticket sales schedule for the match.

The pre-season fixture also marks AC Milan’s return to Indonesia for the first time since 1994. At that time, Milan played against Persib Bandung and the Surabaya Selection.

According to Chelsea’s website, ticket sales details are as follows:

– Pre-sale tickets: Open from Sunday, May 3 at 10:00 AM WIB to Saturday, May 9 at 10:00 AM WIB. Eligible fans will receive pre-sale information via email.

– General sale: Opens on Sunday, May 10 at 12:00 PM WIB. Further details on purchasing procedures will be announced later.
