Nepal Receives “Most Charming Tourism Destination” Award at GITF 2026 in Guangzhou

Nepal Tourism Board Promotes Nepal Tourism at GITF 2026 in China

Nepal Tourism Board participated in the Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2026 from 21 to 23 May under the theme “Nepal: A Lifetime Experience.”

During the event, Nepal received the “Most Charming Tourism Destination” recognition at GITF 2026, highlighting the country’s growing popularity among international travellers.

The award recognised Nepal’s tourism appeal across areas including natural landscapes, spirituality, cultural heritage and adventure tourism.’

Nepal Showcased Multiple Tourism Segments

At the travel fair, Nepal Tourism Board promoted a wide range of tourism experiences including wellness tourism, cultural tourism, pilgrimage travel, outdoor activities, adventure tourism and luxury travel experiences.

The Nepal pavilion provided tourism information to visitors and travel trade professionals attending the event in Guangzhou.

Guangzhou Identified as Key Tourism Market

Guangzhou was highlighted as an important tourism and commercial hub because of its proximity to Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

According to Nepal Tourism Board, the region offers strong potential for tourism segments linked to wellness, culture, outdoor travel and pilgrimage tourism.

Cultural Programmes Featured at the Event

On the opening day of the fair, Nepal organised a traditional cultural dance performance along with a destination presentation for Chinese visitors and travel industry representatives.

The presentations focused on Nepal’s tourism attractions and cultural identity.

Nepal Tourism Board Participated in Industry Discussions

On 22 May, Bimal Kadel delivered a presentation about Nepal’s tourism products and also participated in a panel discussion focused on tourism marketing strategies.

Pradip Basnet also represented the organisation during the event.

Interactive Activities Attracted Visitors

The Nepal tourism stall featured several visitor engagement activities including a spin-and-win lucky draw.

Nepali singing bowls were also showcased as part of the country’s wellness tourism promotion efforts.

Nepali Tourism Companies Joined the Fair

Eight tourism and hospitality companies from Nepal participated in the exhibition, including:

  • Adventure Outdoor Treks and Expedition Pvt. Ltd.
  • Buddha Maya Gardens Pvt. Ltd.
  • Dragon Holidays Pvt. Ltd.
  • Hotel Manang Pvt. Ltd.
  • Outdoor Expeditions Pvt. Ltd.
  • Pearl Holidays Pvt. Ltd.
  • Social Treks and Expedition
  • The Trek Nepal Pvt. Ltd.

The participating businesses promoted travel packages, trekking experiences and hospitality services to visitors and travel buyers.

Nepal Also Hosted Tourism Promotion in Shenzhen

Before the Guangzhou event, Nepal Tourism Board also participated in a tourism promotion and B2B networking programme in Shenzhen on 20 May 2026.

The programme was organised in coordination with the Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou.

Direct Flights Support Tourism Connectivity

Currently, Nepal Airlines and China Southern Airlines operate direct flights between Kathmandu and Guangzhou.

Tourism officials stated that the direct air connectivity is helping support visitor growth between China and Nepal.
