GUANGZHOU — The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE) 2026 opened at the China Import and Export Fair Complex on Tuesday, marking the return of the world’s premier lighting industry event.

Running through June 12, this year’s edition highlights five kinds of lighting innovations: biological, emotional, digital, ecological, and immersive.

Biological lighting products focus on designs enhancing neurodiversity, improving sleep quality and supporting recovery in healthcare settings.

Emotional lighting examines the psychological impact of light, offering adaptive, AI-driven scenarios tailored to human needs and daily activities.

Digital lighting centers on sensor-driven and autonomous systems for smart homes and cities, including solutions that help detect falls in elderly care and optimize energy use without requiring user intervention.

Ecological lighting focuses on technologies that balance human needs with environmental preservation, including agricultural breakthroughs such as adjustable-spectrum LED grow lights, IoT-based environmental light regulation systems, and off-grid greenhouse lighting powered by renewable energy.

Immersive lighting seeks to transform how people experience spaces, enabling immersive storytelling and extending realities without the need for VR headsets.

Industry leaders including Foshan Lighting, Triphosphor Lighting, Inventronics, and Mean Well took part in the show.

China Daily’s Parker Zheng captures the brilliance through his lens.
