Days after implementing the Delhi Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2026, the Delhi government has launched an online portal that allows eligible buyers to apply for EV purchase subsidies and other incentives. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also unveiled the official booklet of the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 during the launch.
The government said the portal has been designed to make the subsidy application process fully digital, transparent and easy to access. Eligible buyers can apply within 30 days of purchasing an electric vehicle and obtaining its Registration Certificate (RC).
According to the government, approved subsidies will be credited directly to beneficiaries’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) within 60 days after verification. Gupta said applicants can complete the entire process online from home and track the status of their applications in real time.
Applicants must register on the portal using their Aadhaar number, date of birth and gender. They are required to upload scanned PDF copies of the vehicle’s Registration Certificate, Aadhaar card, voter ID and bank passbook or cancelled cheque.
The application must be verified through an OTP sent to the mobile number linked with the vehicle’s Registration Certificate.
Those applying for a vehicle scrapping incentive must also upload the Certificate of Deposit. Commercial vehicle owners seeking subsidies are required to submit additional documents, including the vehicle’s Registration Certificate, PAN card, GST registration details and bank account information with the IFSC code.
Real-time tracking available
The portal allows applicants to check the progress of their subsidy request by entering the vehicle registration number and the last five digits of the chassis number.
If officials require additional documents during verification, applicants will receive an online notification and can upload the requested files through the portal to continue the approval process.
123 approved EV models on the list
The portal includes a list of 123 approved electric vehicle models across categories such as two-wheelers, three-wheelers and trucks. Brands featured on the list include TVS, Ather Energy, Bajaj and Mahindra.
Subsidy amounts and policy roadmap
Under the Delhi EV Policy 2026, buyers of electric two-wheelers are eligible for a subsidy of Rs 30,000 during the first year of implementation, while electric three-wheeler buyers can receive Rs 50,000. Hybrid vehicles are not eligible for incentives under the policy.
The policy also offers a scrappage incentive of up to Rs 1 lakh for Bharat Stage-IV four-wheelers to encourage replacement of older vehicles.
From January 1, 2027, only electric auto-rickshaws will be registered in Delhi. Registrations of new internal combustion engine two-wheelers will end from April 1, 2028, with only electric two-wheelers becoming eligible for registration.
Charging network expansion planned
The Delhi government said the city currently has more than 9,000 EV charging points and plans to expand the network to 32,000 charging points.
It expects the policy to attract investments of around Rs 15,000 crore over the next four years to support EV adoption, expand charging infrastructure and reduce vehicular emissions in the national capital.
