An SUV was left dangling above a slope after the driver lost control, mounted a kerb and became lodged in trees in Chongqing on Wednesday (Aug 5).
The incident occurred at about 9.30am near Eling Tunnel in the Yuzhong District of Chongqing, according to local media reports.
Dashcam footage shared on social media platform Xiaohongshu shows the white SUV travelling in the middle lane before it appears to lose control, swerving to the left and cutting in between two cars on the leftmost lane.
The vehicle then veers off the road and up an embankment, becoming lodged between several trees and what appears to be an electrical box.
Other videos of the incident circulating online show the SUV suspended mid-air as several cars pass by the scene.
The Yuzhong District fire and rescue brigade told local media that firefighters used a ladder to rescue the driver and a passenger. The pair were then taken to hospital, according to Chinese media outlet Shangguan News.
A crane was reportedly dispatched after the incident to remove the vehicle from the scene, reported Chinese internet portal Sohu.
The cause of the accident is reportedly still under investigation.
