A 23-year-old man has been arrested on charges of operating a secret subscription-based group on X that allegedly distributed child sexual exploitation material involving a 17-year-old girl and generated hundreds of thousands of baht in revenue over five months.
Pol Maj Gen Witthaya Sriprasertphap, commander of the Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTD), said officers arrested the suspect, identified only as Jirawat, on human trafficking and computer crime charges.
The investigation began after a tip-off from the Destiny Rescue Foundation, which detected an X account with around 100 members allegedly profiting from the production and distribution of explicit videos involving an underage girl in Rayong.
Police found the suspect operated a private subscription group for approximately five months. Membership packages reportedly cost 299 baht for access to exclusive videos and 999 baht for additional privileges. Authorities allege the operation generated several hundred thousand baht.
Investigators identified and rescued a 17-year-old victim, referred to as “Miss A”, who has been placed under state protection as a trafficking victim.
Acting under a Criminal Court arrest warrant, officers arrested the suspect and seized a mobile phone allegedly used to record and edit the videos. Digital forensic examinations also uncovered a large number of additional explicit files involving young females, including some wearing school uniforms. Authorities are working to identify more potential victims and provide them with help and legal protection.
Police said they are expanding the investigation to identify subscribers.
