Guangzhou Mayor Sun Zhiyang met with Zaw Win Myint, Ambassador of Myanmar to China, and his delegation on July 25. The two sides pledged to deepen cooperation in trade, industry and people-to-people exchanges.

Sun said Guangzhou and Myanmar have maintained close ties, with growing cooperation in trade, cultural tourism and fashion consumer goods industry.

He noted that Guangzhou is advancing high-quality development and accelerating the growth of its modern industrial system, including brand building, high-end development and international expansion of its fashion consumer goods sector. As an important member of ASEAN, Myanmar offers broad potential for deeper cooperation with Guangzhou. He expressed hope that both sides would seize opportunities to expand collaboration in jewelry, manufacturing, healthcare, trade and cultural exchanges, while developing more flagship projects that deliver tangible benefits to people in both places.

Zaw Win Myint praised Guangzhou’s economic and social development. He said the Myanmar Embassy in China would continue to serve as a bridge for further cooperation in areas such as cultural exchanges, the fashion consumer goods industry and new energy vehicles, contributing to the development of the China-Myanmar community with a shared future.
