Digital infrastructure investment firm DigitalBridge is reportedly considering a sale of its Malaysian unit, AIMS Data Centres

Citing unnamed people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reports DigitalBridge is considering options for Malaysia’s AIMS Data Centre, including raising funds, bringing in new investors, or an outright sale.

The digital infrastructure investor is said to be working with a financial advisor and has reached out to prospective investors to gauge interest.

Any deal could value Aims at as much as $2 billion.

Previously a subsidiary of telecom company Time dotCom, AIMS was acquired by DigitalBridge in November 2022.

AIMS DC offers colocation, managed services, and disaster recovery offerings from four data centers in Malaysia – two in Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya – as well as one in Bangkok, Thailand. On its website, the company has previously listed plans for three more facilities in Vietnam.

DigitalBridge is a major investor in data centers, fiber, and cell towers, with some $115bn in assets under management across more than 45 companies. Companies under DigitalBridge’s ownership include Vantage, Switch, DataBank, AtlasEdge, Scala, Yondr, Digita, JTower, Zayom VerticalBridge, and others. The firm is in the process of being acquired by Japanese technology firm SoftBank.

Blue Owl Capital-owned data center firm Stack Infrastructure is also said to be considering a sale of its Asia operations. Potential suitors reportedly include BlackRock-backed AIP and GIP, Brookfield, IFM Investors, DigitalBridge, and KKR.
