Julius Baer Appoints New Head of Lugano Branch
Julius Baer has named Riccardo Corzani as the new Head of its Lugano branch. Corzani, who currently oversees the Italy and Ticino market, will take on the additional role from September 1, 2026, while retaining his existing responsibilities, the bank said in a statement on Thursday.
Corzani succeeds Ettore Bonsignore, who is retiring after seven years in leadership positions at Julius Baer, most recently as Head of the Lugano branch. Bonsignore concludes a wealth management career spanning more than 40 years.
Continuity at a Key Location
Corzani joined Julius Baer in September 2023 and has led the Italy and Ticino business since June 2025. His responsibilities include the cross-border business as well as the group’s entities in Milan, the Italian branch of Bank Julius Baer Europe, and Julius Baer Fiduciaria.
The Lugano branch employs around 130 people. As Switzerland’s third-largest financial centre, Lugano plays a key role in Julius Baer’s Italy business.
Carlos Recoder, Co-Head Western Markets & Switzerland at Julius Baer, paid tribute to the outgoing branch head. He said Bonsignore had made a significant contribution over recent years to strengthening the bank’s market position in the Italian-speaking markets.
