Nintendo has announced price increases for both the Switch and Switch 2 in Japan. In the US, Canada, and Europe, only the Switch 2 will be affected.

The decision, announced with Nintendo’s latest financial results, was made “in light of changes in market conditions and after considering the global outlook.”

“We sincerely apologise for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding.”

Nintendo stated that price revisions for the Switch 2 and Switch will be implemented in other regions. Further details will be provided by its overseas subsidiaries.

Price revisions for the Switch 2 and Switch consoles in Japan will take effect on May 25, 2026:

Planned price revisions for South Korea will be announced at a later date.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa previously stated that the firm was not ruling out future price increases due to the ongoing shortage of memory components.

“Any decision to change the price will be determined comprehensively, taking into consideration not only profitability, but also other factors like the platform’s installed base, sales trends, and the market environment,” he said.

“If the rise in memory prices continues for longer than expected, it may start to have an effect on hardware profitability. In this case, we will examine various factors to determine how to handle the situation.”
