Rex Regum Qeon Hoshi, one of MLBB’s most storied teams, has kicked off the MPL Indonesia Season 17 with seven straight losses. Despite this, the team remains a fan-favourite, and moments where the team comes close to that first win have caused surges of viewership.

During their recent Week 4 game against Bigetron by Vitality, many expected another quick loss for RRQ.H against one of their region’s top teams. However, RRQ Hoshi claimed the first match of the series in a decisive 15 minute victory, leading to a surge in viewership.

Viewership peaked at over 2,000,000 concurrent viewers during the second match of the game, where RRQ.H and BTR battled it out. Eventually, Bigetron by Vitality claimed the equalizer after 25 minutes, before converting a 2:1 win in the final match. Viewership also reached a strong result, 1.78M Peak Viewers, during RRQ’s other match of the week against EVOS.

MPL Indonesia Season 17 Week 4 most popular matches by peak concurrent viewers

Since the MPL Indonesia Season 17 kicked off on March 27, RRQ Hoshi’s poor form has been one of the most-discussed talking points. One of MLBB’s most legendary organizations, their issues began last year after an uncharacteristic seventh-place result for the MPL ID S16. The organization attempted to rebuild coming to 2026, but things instead took a turn for the worse with a now-winless record half-way through the season.

However, RRQ’s struggles on the server have not impacted their fan base, who are continuing to follow and support their matches. As of Week 4, all of the MPL Indonesia Season 17’s top five matches feature RRQ Hoshi. They are also the most popular team of the MPL Indonesia Season 17, and by a rather significant margin with just shy of 1,000,000 Average Viewers; the next-most popular team, ONIC Esports, trail roughly 180,000 Average Viewers behind RRQ.

For RRQ Hoshi, playoffs at the MPL ID S17 seems out of grasp at this point. However, the team could still turn things around and put on a great show for the fans; plenty of RRQ fans are just waiting for the first win of the season, and with viewership having peaked at over 2,000,000 for RRQ’s brush with a win, their first win could be one of the most popular mobile gaming esports moments of the year.

Keep an eye on the MPL Indonesia Season 17, it is developing to be one of the MPL’s most-watched seasons ever.
