UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper will travel to China and India to discuss a range of global issues, including the Strait of Hormuz, the Russia–Ukraine war, and the Ebola outbreak.
Reuters reported on Sunday, May 31, that Cooper will meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vice President Han Zheng on June 2.
She will then travel to Shenzhen in southern China, where she will take part in events focused on science and technology.
The UK government said the visits will focus on bilateral cooperation and global challenges.
The trip comes as London and Beijing, following a recent meeting between UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Chinese President Xi Jinping, seek to expand cooperation in trade, investment, and technology sectors.
The visit also takes place amid rising global geopolitical tensions, with oil prices fluctuating following recent developments in the Middle East.
